Northeast Kanmantoo Province
Overview
The Northeastern Kanmantoo Provence contains two key prospects -Kanappa and Mt Rhine – in the northern portion of EL 6526. Both are located along the same crustal structure. The Coorong Shear Zone with the Cu-Au mineralisation is hosted similar sediment and limestone sequence metamorphosed to schists and marble, intruded by dykes.
Key Facts
- Kanappa is a set of small Cu and Cu-Au historical workings along the Coorong Shear Zone, 50km from Kanmantoo. The mineralisation is hosted in a sequence of sediments and limestones now deformed to schists and marbles intruded by diorites, monzonites and aplites.
- Kanappa is identified as a potential porphyry target based on the geochemical signature from whole rock analysis on samples taken in the 2018 drilling.
- Mt Rhine is identified as a prominent Fe-gossan zone that is along a narrow fault normal to the main Coorong shear zone.
- Historic gold workings occur along the gossan zone.
