Hillgrove Resources has successfully transitioned from an open-pit to an underground copper producer through substantial resource expansion while committing to ongoing exploration.
Located in the majestic Adelaide Hills, only 55km from the Adelaide CBD, Hillgrove has operated since 2005 and completed open pit mining at Kanmantoo in 2020. In 2023 we commenced development of our underground mine and in 2024 completed our transition to underground copper production.
Our Kanmantoo Copper Mine, located in the Tier 1 mining jurisdiction of South Australia, has quickly ramped up to an annual copper production rate of approximately 12,000 tonnes. The mine is well capitalised with significant infrastructure in place including a 3-3.6Mtpa processing plant. It is connected to market via Port Adelaide which is just 75km away by road.
Hillgrove is also testing the next suite of high potential targets. In addition to the Kanmantoo operation, we currently hold 100 per cent of a series of Exploration Licenses covering 4,187 square kilometres in south-east South Australia in the Cambrian-Ordovician Kanmantoo Province. Over 95 per cent of the Kanmantoo Province is covered by the Tertiary Murray Basin which has limited past exploration.
